WHAT IS HTTP SERVER

Hello friends! In my last post CONFIGURATION WITH A DHCP SERVER AND A SWITCH CONNECTING 3 COMPUTERS I mentioned what is DHCP server and for what and how it is used. In today’s post we will discuss about HTTP server. Although HTTP server is used with DNS server but to make it easy to understand we will discuss DNS server later. So let’s start from beginning.

What is HTTP server?

HTTP server can also be called a website’s server. Every website of this world has a server or you can say a medium where it stores all its data in cloud.

So let’s start and understand it through an example.

# open Cisco Packet Tracer Student

# now take a server, a switch and one computer (to make it easy to understand)

server, switch and computer

# connect the server and the computer to the switch using automatically choose connection type

connect them

# now go click on server

# click on services and then on http

http server

# now in server click on desktop and then on IP configuration

ip address server

# give a ip address, let’s say 1.0.0.1 and press tab , you will find that subnet mask has been added automatically

server ip address

# now click on computer and give it a ip address, let’s say 1.0.0.2

computer ip address

THAT’S IT

Now to test,  click on computer and click on web browser, now type the address you have given to http server that is 1.0.0.1 and press enter, you will see a web pagecomputer browser

computer browser page

This is how HTTP server works. If you have any doubt then please send me your queries by leaving a comment .
