CONFIGURING EMAIL SERVER USING A SWITCH


Hello friends! I have told you about HTTP server, DNS server and DHCP server through my previous posts and today I will tell you about EMAIL server. EMAIL server is used along with DNS server so if you don’t know about DNS server read my post CCNA: CONFIGURATION WITH HTTP SERVER AND DNS SERVER so let’s start

To configure an EMAIL server follow the given steps…..

# take 2 servers, 1 switch and 2 computers

2 servers, 2 computers and 1 switch

# now connect computers and servers to the switch using automatically choose connection type

connect servers and pcs to the switch

# now click on the servers which you want to make EMAIL server

# click on services > EMAIL

# now give a name to it, let’s say gmail.com and add users let’s say user a and user b

# give a password to each of them and save it

# now click on desktop > IP configuration

# give a ip address to it let’s say 1.0.0.1 and press tab, the subnet mask will be added automatically

As we are using DNS server that’s why we will also give a DNS address to all devices let’s say 1.0.0.2

# now click on the server which you want to make DNS server

# click on services > DNS

# add the name of the email server that is gmail.com and put it’s ip address that is 1.0.0.1 and add it

# now click on desktop > IP configuration and give it a ip address that is 1.0.0.2 and press tab, the subnet mask will be added automatically. Also give it DNS address that is 1.0.0.2

# now click on computer which you want to make user a

# click on desktop > IP configuration

# give it a ip address let’s say 1.0.0.3 and press tab, subnet mask will be added automatically. Don’t forget to give it it’s DNS address that is 1.0.0.2

# repeat the same procedure in computer with the user b. Give it a ip address 1.0.0.4

So here’s our system is almost ready, now we just need to configure email accounts for the user a and user b. To configure email accounts for both the user follow the given steps…..

# click on computer of the user whose account you want to configure, let’s say user a

# click on Email and now fill the required fieldsconfiguring email account

# repeat the same procedure in computer with the another user b

Here’s our complete system is ready. To check we will send email from user b to user a.

# click on computer in which you have configured the account of user b

# click on desktop > Email

# click on compose

sending e mail

# now fill the required fields and after that click on send button

To check whether the mail has been sent follow the given steps…..

# click on computer in which you have configured the account of user a

# now click on desktop > Email

# click on receive. You will get your sent mail.
