STATIC ROUTING CONFIGURATION USING 3 ROUTERS

Hello friends! In my last post CCNA: CONFIGURING A NETWORK USING STATIC ROUTING I mentioned the steps on how we can configure a network. In my today’s post I will tell you how we can configure a network using 3 routers by applying static routing in them. If you have not read my previous post then I will suggest you to read it first so that you could get my today’s post in a better way. So let’s get started.

Follow the given steps…..

# take 3 routers and 3 computers

3 servers and 3 computers

Now now you can see that router 2 needs to be connected in 3 networks but there are only 2 network cards in a router. That’s why we need to add an ethernet network card in that as well. To add a network card in router 2 follow the given steps…..

# click on router 2 > physical

# turn it off

turn off the router

# click on WIC-2 ENET

# select that card and drag it to the blank space

adding network card

# turn it on

# connect computers to a particular router and routers to each other using automatically choose the connection type.

connecting pcs

Now give an ip address to each port and to each computer

# in fa0/0 port of router 1 give ip address 1.0.0.1

providing ip address

# in fa0/1 port of router 1 give ip address 2.0.0.1

providing ip address

# in fa0/0 port of router 2 give ip address 2.0.0.2

providing ip address

# in fa0/1 port of router 2 give ip address 3.0.0.1

providing ip address

# in Eth0/1/0 port of router 2 give ip address 4.0.0.1

providing ip address

# in fa0/0 port of router 3 give ip address 4.0.0.2

providing ip address

# in fa0/1 port of router 3 give ip address 5.0.0.1

providing ip address

# give ip address 1.0.0.2 to pc 1 and give Default Gateway 1.0.0.1

providing ip address

# give ip address 3.0.0.2 to pc 2 and give Default Gateway 3.0.0.1

providing ip address

# give ip address 5.0.0.2 to pc 3 and give Default Gateway 5.0.0.1

providing ip address

After this, all ports will become green and will look like the image given below

a configured nertwork

But our network is still not completely ready.  Network 5.0.0.0.1 has no idea about network 1.0.0.0 and vice-versa. Therefore routing will be done on router 1 and on router 3.

For static routeing on router 1 follow the given steps

# click on router 1 > cli

# now write down the following code

Router(config)#ip route 5.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 2.0.0.2

Router(config)#exit

# click on router 3 > cli

# now write down the following code

Router(config)#ip route 1.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 4.0.0.1

Router(config)#exit

THAT’S IT

This is how we can configure a network using 3 routers and applying static routing on it. If you have any doubt on this post you can mention it in your comments.
