Hello friends! In my today’s post, I will tell you how we can configure telnet service in a network using a router. But before that let’s understand a bit about TELNET
What is telnet?
A telnet is a kind of protocol or set of rules that allows different users to of a network to login into each other’s computers or any other system.
So let’s how to configure telnet service in a network using router
# take a router and 2 computers ( just to make it easier to understand )
# now connect them using Automatically choose connection type wire
# now click on the router > config
# now select the port FastEthernet0/0
# assign an IP address to this port let’s say 184.108.40.206
# now click on any PC and assign an IP address to it let’s say 220.127.116.11
# click on another PC and assign an IP address to it as well let’s 18.104.22.168
Now it’s to activate telnet service in the network prepared. To activate telnet service follow the steps given below.
# click on the router > cli
# now write down the codes given below
Router(config)#line vty 0 4 Router(config-line)#password 12345 Router(config-line)#login Router(config-line)#exit
Here 0 4 is the no.of users who can log into the router. 0 4 means 5 users can log in to the router at the same time. And 12345 is the password to login into the router, you can manage it according to yourself.
Now let’s take a test….
# click on any of the computer > Command Prompt
# now write:- telnet <space> 22.214.171.124
Now will ask you for a password which you have given to the router. That means telnet configuration has been successfully applied to this network.
So this was was how we can configure telnet service in a network. If you have any advice, suggestion or query about this post then please mention it in your comments.
