HOW TO ADD PASSWORD SECURITY TO A ROUTER

Hello friends! In my today’s post, I will tell you about how word we can add a password to the router. Adding a password to the router is important if you don’t want anyone else to change the network configuration which you have made to a network. So let’s get started

# take a router and a computer ( to make it easier to understand )

1 router and 1 pc

# connect them using automatically choose connection type wire

connecting 1 router and 1 pc

# click on the router > config

# assign an IP address to it let’s say 1.0.0.1

configuring router

# click on PC > IP Configuration

configuring pc

# assign an IP address to it let’s say 1.0.0.2

configuring pc

Our connection is ready. Now it’s time to give a password to the router.

# click on the router > cli

# now type the following code:-

Router(config)#enable password 12345

Router(config)#exit

configuring router

Here 12345 is the password of the router. You can give password according to your choice.

THAT’S IT

Now from the next time whenever you will try to configure router settings it will ask you for the password. To see the password you have given to the router follow the given steps…..

# click on the router > cli

# type the following code:-

Router# show run

configuring router

So this is how you can add a password to the browser. In my next post, I will mention the steps to encrypt the password. If you have any doubt, advice or suggestions regarding this post then please mention it in your comments.
