Hello friends! In my previous post HOW TO ADD PASSWORD SECURITY TO ROUTER, I mentioned the steps to add a password to a router and also describe the way to see given a password to a router. In my today’s post, I will tell you the way to give an encrypted password to a router so that no one can see it. So let’s get started.
# take a router and a computer ( to make it easier to understand )
# connect them using automatically choose connection type wire
# click on the router > config
# assign an IP address to it let’s say 220.127.116.11
# click on PC > IP Configuration
# assign an IP address to it let’s say 18.104.22.168
Our connection is ready. Now it’s time to give an encrypted password to the router.
# click on the router > cli
# now type the following code:-
Router(config)#enable secret 12345
Now nobody will be able to see the password which you have given to the router. If anybody will try to see the password by using the command show run, the password will be displayed in an encrypted form.
So this was how we can add an encrypted password to a router. If you have any doubt, suggestion or advice regarding this post then please mention it in your comments.
